Field Trips are an integral part of our schedule at Seat of Wisdom. They take place on the third Friday of the month. They are optional–if you need a day off during the month, field trips offer a free day for anyone who needs one. Also, all of our partner schools are invited and welcome to participate in field trips as well. Field trips take two forms: several of our field trips, especially in December and January, are service field trips. In the past, for example, we have helped remove wreaths from graves at Ft. Nelson, and we have gone and helped out the Franciscan Daughters of Mercy at their Rose Garden Mission in Covington. Other field trips have been planned as a way of exploring Kentucky, and particularly the story of Kentucky Catholic, history. In the past, we have gone to such historical sites as Fr. Harrod, Fr. Boonesborough, Cane Ridge, the motherhouses of the Sisters of Charity of Nazareth and the Sisters of Loretto, the Cathedrals of Louisville and Covington, the Proto-Cathedral of St. Joseph (Bardstown), Perryville, Waveland, Ft. Nelson, the Mary Todd Lincoln House, the John Hunt Morgan House, and Natural Bridge. In the coming year, we will continue to explore Kentucky and Kentucky Catholic history through our field trip. We will be posting details monthly in the Calendar feature of this website, so be sure to check it out!
